Mexico is definitely one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is home to one of the most progressive cities, Mexico City. Rich in culture and mystique, there’s a mix of culture, science, art and modern life in this place that can satisfy every fab travelers palate. Here are some of the top tourist destinations in the country that made an impact to me:
Pyramid of the Moon and Avenue of the Dead in Teotihuacan, Mexico
1. One of the noteworthy destinations we visited is the Pyramid of the Moon, the second largest pyramid in Mexico located in San Juan Teotihuacan. In front of the staircase of the pyramid is an access to the Avenue of the Dead, where ceremonies were held in honor of the Great Goddess of Teotihuacan. They call her goddess of the earth, creation, water, and fertility.
Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City
2. The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is popular because of the Mexicans’ religious devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus. The Our Lady also played an important role in Mexican nationalism and identity. Hundreds of pilgrims visit the church everyday.
Painting materials on display at the House of Frida Kahlo in Mexico City
3. Likewise, almost everyone who comes to Mexico City makes a pilgrimage to the house of renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The house known as Casa Azul (Blue House) is now a museum.
Clothes of artist Frida Kahlo on display at her house-turned museum called Casa Azul.
The house contains mementos and personal belongings of Frida and her husband Diego Rivera. There are collections of jewelry, clothes, paintings, and photos that show a glimpse of the artist’s daily life. Don’t forget to bring home a Frida handbag, too!
Cancun Beach, Mexico
4. Cancún can be found just north of Mexico’s Caribbean coast resort band known as the Riviera Maya. It is one of the popular, if not the most popular, beach destination in the country. So, we took the chance to bathe under the Mexican sun here.
I will always remember Mexico with fondness. I will surely come back.
