Who here loves to snack?
Well, you shouldn’t be ashamed that you are into snacking, especially if your choice of snacks is more of those healthy ones. Snacking should not be frowned upon.
Essentially, it is not a bad thing. You just have to make sure you are snacking healthily and choosing what you eat wisely.
If you find yourself getting hungry, you can make it a habit to snack healthily.
Usually, we get hungry every three to four hours. This is why a couple of smaller meal portions can be spread out during the day in order to not feel too hungry at mealtime and to avoid overeating.
Your snacks throughout the day should include healthy carbs, too. It should include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and some protein.
You can get whole grains from snacking on crackers. For protein, you can get this from snacking on nuts, soy-protein food, and non-fat dairy food.
The time between lunch and dinner can be quite tricky. Some people can try to wait for mealtime and just hold on to that, causing them to overeat.
To combat this, instead of a small snack, you can try getting a second meal after lunch, where you can consume a bit of protein shake, you can also eat some cottage cheese and add a bit of fruit to that, or you may also try some low-calorie frozen meal.
This way, during dinner, you won’t feel the urge to overeat.
When you feel like eating after dinner and you know you are not really hungry, try to drink water first. You may just be thirsty.
You can also try to avoid this by brushing your teeth after you eat your last meal of the day. With this, you may avoid unnecessary eating.
